​I've always been a big fan of dark, moody, atmospheric, scratchy, lo-fi style trip hop, and it's gotten harder and harder to find music that fits the bill. Massive Attack has always been there (albeit not so often), same goes double for Portishead... Then we've got the no-one's-ever-heard-of-it OUR AIM TO SATISFY by the band Red Snapper (they've been around for a while, usually pumping out some form of trip hop, but this full length just blows you mind)... But beyond these, there have been very few releases which capture a similar feel and ambiance.​

Until my man SIXFINGERZ dropped onto the scene! And drop he did, dropped like an A-bomb, exploding thunderous beats and earth-shaking rythms across the face of our sweet planet.

This is the best true trip hop album I've added to my collection in years. It's got some seriously groovy beats in a low-fi stylee, blended with dope rhythms and a variety of ethnic melodies. In addition to the stack of magic boxes, this album also found sounds through some inspired, real-world instrumentation, including a variety of percussion and woodwinds, all provided by the young Belgian behind the curtain, Tim de Groof (aka Sixfingerz).

Keep an eye (or, better still, an ear) on this lad, I tnink we're going to hear some very interesting things coming from Belgium soon. Quite soon...

Belgian producer Sixfingerz releases 'Extra Digits' another solid LP on Cold Busted full of Trip-Hop Electronic experimental beats and innovative production as expected.​

'This Feeling of Winter' begins fuzzed out low-fi into soaring sound scapes, hand drums, clicks, pretty melodies and subtle bass undulations, pleasing and emotive. 'In the Darkness' after a quirky intro, soul vocal sample drop into beats at about 85BPM, effective glitches and juicy sub bass lines make it a full, infectious, creative tune. 'Everybody Talking' captures a playful franticness with strings, high synths, absolutely fresh Hip Hop sampling, live snare, cymbals and heavy cutting edge mid range bass. 'Brothers and Sisters' after a bit crushed intro, drops into feel good warm bass synths, clever drums, head nodding soulful and funky. 'Love Is All We Are' is another banger with seriously sexy vibes, gentle gutsy bass, electro and soulful, balmy and smooth. 'The Promise of Something New' works it's wonder into your mind, thoughtful, and bright with impact, charming organs, horns, electric guitar, vocals all in sweet harmony with chill beats and loops. 'Waiting In For The Nightowl' captures an old soul sample with creative arrangement, sampling, effects and feel good round bass soothing and accentuating the melody. Audacious and irresistible to explore 'Extra Digits' is a unique 19-track release that washes over one quite nicely.
